What to Consider When Buying a Waterfront Home in the Keys - Part 1

Most people who choose to buy a Florida Keys home come for the sunshine and the sea. The best way to take advantage of all that the Florida Keys has to offer is by choosing one of the many Florida Keys waterfront homes for sale. However, with the plethora of waterfront properties in the Keys, there are many considerations that must be taken into account to ensure that the property best suits your needs - including deciding which island has the waterfront property that meets your needs and what construction style you prefer.

The first decision that needs to be made is which key is right for you. With more than 40 of the islands in the chain inhabited, there are plenty of options to choose from, and no two keys are alike. An important consideration is how close to the mainland you want to be. An average drive from Miami to Key West often takes three and half to four hours, when traffic is light. Waterfront homes for sale in the Florida Keys differ in view and availability depending on which key you're looking at. Additionally, some areas offer more oceanfront or bayfront homes for sale than others. If you have a boat, you may want to decide whether or not there are specific attractions - such as specific diving or fishing spots - that you may want to live near for ease of access. For example, angling enthusiasts may prefer living in Islamorada because of its many bridges and access routes from Ocean to Bay.
